NEW UNIVERSAL DAMPHER MATERIAL FOR EFFECTIVE IRON REMOVAL
Any source of water (municipal pipeline, wells) can contain IRON. Such water has yellowish color, rust taste, and iridescent film on surface.
New universal Dampher material (patent N¹ 221994) is based on catalytically modified natural dolomite. The removal of dissolved iron by the Dampher material is based on the accelerated oxidation of soluble iron(II) species into insoluble iron(III) hydroxide with subsequent simple filtration. The process rate depends on the solution pH. With increasing pH by 1, e.g., from 7 to 8, the rate of iron(III) hydroxide formation is accelerated by a factor of about 1000. Iron(III) hydroxide promotes effective oxidation of soluble iron(II) species (“iron removes iron”) and adsorbs clay, sand, and organics.
The catalytic activity of Dampher material in the oxidation processes allows effective removal of manganese (up to 10 MPC).
All advantages of Dampher material are realized to a great extent in multistage systems during stage-by-stage water treatment.
